Invest in Guinea

Guinea - president with mp

OBJECTIVE

Curzon was tasked with raising the profile of Guinea and its investment potential to foster cross-continental relations and generate regional publicity and awareness of Guinea’s business opportunities. Curzon was briefed with creating a strategic media relations campaign as well as branding and event management for two events. A mining code briefing at the Royal Horseguards Hotel was followed by the Invest in Guinea Conference at the Westbury, Mayfair.

CAMPAIGN

A two-fold communications campaign targeted both specific industry press and a wider audience in order to accommodate the different remits of the two events and form key relationships with target journalists. This included sectors covered by the presentations in the conference, including agriculture, environmental press and CSR, business, commodities and Africa-focused top tier publications to focus the media spotlight on Guinea’s investment sectors. A branding project produced event material in line with international standards to reflect the quality of investment projects available, while event management of both the Mining Code Briefing and the Conference focused on creating quality events that would facilitate communication between Guinean officials and UK-based audiences.

RESULTS

Extensive coverage of the mining code was achieved, including reports and interviews with speakers and ministers in the Wall Street Journal, Nasdaq, Financial Times, CNBC, Bloomberg and Reuters as well as international mining and commodities journals. The Invest in Guinea Conference attracted broadcast coverage by Vox Africa and the BBC World Service Programme for Africa, among others. The Conference included a surprise visit by Guinea President Alpha Condé and resulted in numerous fruitful investor meetings with various business sectors interested in Guinea and West Africa.
