Curzon CEO and founder, Farzana Baduel has become the first British Asian CEO to achieve Chartered Public Relations Practitioner status.

This represents the highest standard of professional excellence and integrity in PR and is the most senior level of professional accreditation available in public relations. It is awarded by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) – the chartered body for public relations and the largest membership organisation for PR professionals in Europe.

There are 71,000 public relations professionals in the UK, just 255 of whom are Chartered. Baduel undertook the rigorous assessment to demonstrate her commitment to the rapidly-evolving discipline,

The Chartership Assessment Day requires candidates to demonstrate a high standard of knowledge and experience in ethics, strategy and leadership during a full-day assessment led by a team of senior industry professionals. It also requires evidence of a commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) including the creation and presentation of a 2-year CPD plan to a peer group.

Alastair McCapra, CIPR CEO, commented:

“It’s great to see senior practitioners seeing the value in becoming Chartered. Farzana is a example of a professional placing a premium on strategy, ethics and leadership. I’m delighted that she has become a Chartered Public Relations Practitioner in our most recent cohort, boosting the number of Chart. PRs to more than 250. It’s another milestone toward our goal of becoming a predominantly Chartered profession.”

Farzana established Curzon in 2009 after serving as vice chair of business relations for the Conservative Party. As a global PR thought-leader, she regularly contributes to international publications writing on; PR and marketing, entrepreneurship, emerging market brands going global and diversity in the media.

Farzana is also an L.E.V8 Women ambassador and mentor for the Oxford Foundry, the University of Oxford’s entrepreneurship centre.
