This October, international art fair ArtBahrain will provide local artists with a global platform to showcase the very best in Bahraini art, stimulating creativity and opportunity for the local arts industry connecting Bahrain to the global arts world. ArtBahrain has now announced a collaboration with The Bahrain Arts Society who are supporting the art fair by providing an artist pavilion in the fair’s endeavor to celebrate national, as well as worldwide artistic talent. This will act as an indicator for how the Bahraini arts scene has come together to be a significant part of the showcase.
Bahraini galleries including Al Riwaq, Hend Gallery, Busaad Art Gallery and Amina Gallery will provide an opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work to some of the most prestigious art institutions. Along with Bahraini artists such as Ali Al Mahmeed, Sheikha Marwa Bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Shaikha Lulwa Bint Abdulazia Al Khalifa and Jamal Abdul Rahim who will be displaying their works.
“Bahrain is fast becoming a major player in the arts world and it is pertinent that we partner with these global institutions to allow our arts community to flourish,” says ArtBahrain Co-founder Kaneka Subberwal. “Only through events like ArtBahrain can we encourage the next generation of artists in the region, as well as art investment into the country.” 2014 was declared ‘Our Year of Art’ in Bahrain and in 2013, Manama was chosen as the Arab Capital of Tourism. These developments have put Bahrain on the global map and there has never been a more inviting time for art-enthusiasts to check out the emerging Bahrani art scene.
Khalid Juman, Co-founder of ArtBahrain says, “Never before have local artists been provided with such a strong platform to network with international galleries. We hope that we are able to inspire more artists in Bahrain and the Middle East and are delighted that ArtBahrain can support our local artists.”
ArtBahrain is preparing to host up to 200 international art collectors, 2,000 VIP clients and approximately 10,000 visitors. The event is set to be a culminating point for artists, art collectors and art lovers. Internationally minded, the art fair will serve as a platform where artists and galleries from around the world will share space, ideas and inspiration with local artists.
ArtBahrain will run from 13 – 16 October 2015.
