Farzana Baduel BBC Asian Network - speaks on Diversity in PR and Media

On Monday 10 April Curzon PR’s very own Managing Director, Farzana Baduel, spoke to DJ Nihal on the BBC Asian Network. The topic was diversity in PR and the media and it has proved a great success – here at Curzon PR we have been getting calls and CVs in all day. If you weren’t lucky enough to catch Farzana live, you can hear the interview here.

In a multicultural society like modern day Britain, it seems like common sense that the industries which represent us should reflect society but this is not always the case. Around thirty percent of young people in the UK come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and yet less than ten percent of people in creative industries reflect this diversity.

Creative Access is a London-based initiative which aims to address this disparity in order to promote the growth of a media that reflects society. They team up with a range of companies in the creative industries, ranging through PR, marketing, television, film, radio, talent, music, advertising, publishing, theatre and journalism. Creative Access sets up six month to one year paid internships for UK nationals from an ethnic minority background.

In fact, here at Curzon PR we already have one intern amongst our ranks and are currently hiring for another. We firmly stand by Creative Access in the belief that diversity is crucial to creative industries; the media must reflect the society to which it is aimed. Curzon PR is eager to rectify this from within our own ranks – so for all those sending CV’s, it’s best to get them over to Creative Access. You can find our internship here.
